The Municipality of Stavroupolis in its effort to reinforce, expand and support its contemporary cultural and spiritual activities, it created "IRIS" ( http://www.dkesiris.gr), an organized cultural institution with a social, recreational and educational character. 

The Municipality gave weight to communication, entertaining events, publications and productions, mainly theatrical ones. It make worthy of installations and locations like the old tobacco warehouse in Ikoniou St. , the Old Lazaristes Abbey and the Municipal Theater, established partnerships and now run a Municipal Theater Group, a department for plastic arts, a ballet school, a music conservatory, as well as departments of mutimedia, sound, video and documentary films.

The Municipal Socio-Cultural Organization of Stavroupolis "IRIS", is an unmixed Municipal organization (NΠIΔ, ΦEK 471/22.7.92) and is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture at a frame work of a ten-year agreement (1998-2008).

"For many years now Stavroupolis pioneered in presenting activities that are recognized for their quality as a counter-weigh in other usual situations. After a continuous increasing activity, the Municipal Theater of Stavroupolis together with the Municipal Socio-Cultural Organization of Stavroupolis "IRIS", in its effort to deepen its relation with the theater, created the Municipal Theater Ensemble of Stavroupolis "Theatriko Ergotaxio", and defined Isabella Martzopoulou as its artistic director and tutor.

"Theatriko Ergotaxio" is a group with professional standards which is founded in continuance of the apprenticeship of the actors who studied in the Laboratory for Drama Education under the artistic direction of Isabella Martzopoulou.

With great care and a lot of personal work from all our co-workers, the Ensemble is ready to present its first production, "A journey to Brazil", a play for both children and adults, by Daniil Kharms, an unknown and first presented Russian writer in Greece, and give to the audience the chance to view a different theatrical perspective"
